Rufus Scrimgeour's childhood is quite unclear. However, it is possible that he is a vampire.

[edit] History

Rufus Scrimgeour used to be head of the Auror Office. However, in 1996, he took Cornelius Fudge's place Minister of Magic. He had another character than Fudge; he looked much like a lion, and seemed to take more action than Fudge. He first met Harry when he was visiting Ron in the Christmas of 1996, and they had an unsuccessful talk. They met again in Dumbledore's funeral.

In 1997, they met, again at the Burrow. Scrimgeour had taken with him three of the four items Dumbledore had decided to give to Harry, Ron and Hermione. Hermione got a book filled with child stories from the Magical world, Ron got Dumbledore's old, self-invented Deluminator, while Harry received the Golden Snitch he caught in his first game of Quidditch. Scrimgeour was also supposed to give Harry Godric Gryffindor's sword, however, the Ministry of Magic did not give it to him.

This was the last time Scrimgeour met Harry. The next day, after Harry's own birthday, the Death Eaters took over the Ministry of Magic. Voldemort himself tortured Scrimgeour, and asked him of Harry's location, but Scrimgeour refused to answer. Voldemort killed him, and after Harry, Ron and Hermione heard of the terrible news, they came to respect him.
