[edit] Background

Parvati Patil is a witch, either half-blood or pure-blood, born to Mr. and Mrs. Patil. She has a twin sister, Padma, who she is identical to. She attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry the same year as Harry Potter and was sorted into Gryffindor House, while twin Padma was sorted into Ravenclaw. She shared a dormitory with Lavender Brown, Hermione Granger, Fay Dunbar, and another girl. She and Lavender became very close with each other and the two developed a great interest in the elective class, Divination. Parvati, as well as her best friend, admired the Divination teacher, Sybill Trelawney. She attended the Yule Ball with Harry Potter in her fourth year and joined Dumbledore's Army in her fifth. She helped fight in the Battle of Hogwarts alongside many other Hogwarts students.

[edit] History

[edit] The Philosopher's Stone

Parvati attended her first year at Hogwarts in the first book, and attended the same year as Harry Potter. She was sorted into Gryffindor House, while her twin, Padma, was sorted into Ravenclaw. She shared a dormitory with Lavender Brown, whom she got on well with, Hermione Granger, Fay Dunbar, and one other girl. Parvati came to fellow first year Gryffindor Neville Longbottom's defense when Draco Malfoy threw his Remembrall, to which Pansy Parkinson reacted by ridiculing her.

[edit] The Chamber of Secrets

Not much is known about Parvati's second year at Hogwarts. This was the year that the Chamber of Secrets re-opened, and she most likely shared her opinions about the Heir of Slytherin with best friend Lavender Brown. She might have also had a crush on Gilderoy Lockhart, their Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher that year, as many other girls did, and may have joined the Duelling Club he hosted.

[edit] The Prisoner of Azkaban

Having been in her third year, Parvati took up Divination and Care of Magical Creatures as her elective classes, as did Lavender. She and Lavender grew particularly fond of Divination and its teacher, Sybill Trelawney. During a Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson when Professor Lupin brought a Boggart wardrobe for the children to demonstrate on, Parvati's Boggart turns out to be a mummy. However, in the film adaptation, her Boggart is shown as a cobra.

[edit] The Goblet of Fire

Parvati attended the Yule Ball as Harry Potter's date. She enjoyed the attention of being accompanied by Harry, who was very famed at the time, but was rather bored throughout the dance as Harry did not ask her to dance and spent most of his time goggling at Cho Chang. She eventually began dancing with a boy from Beauxbatons. When Care of Magical Creatures was taught by Professor Grubbly-Plank, who was the replacement for Rubeus Hagrid, Parvati seemed to actually enjoy the class.

[edit] The Order of the Phoenix

Parvati, along with Padma and Lavender and others, joined Dumbledore's Army in her fifth year. She mastered the Reductor Curse and managed to reduce a table to specks of dust. She and Lavender seemed very upset by the sacking of Professor Trelawney by Dolores Umbridge and often comforted her. However, they became infatuated with the new Divination teacher, the centaur Firenze.

[edit] The Half-Blood Prince

Due to the rise of Lord Voldemort and his followers, the Death Eaters, Hermione Granger told Ron Weasley and Harry Potter that the Patil twins' parents nearly took them away from the school for their safety. However, Parvati and Padma remained put in the Hogwarts castle. Like Harry, Parvati became slightly agitated with Lavender and Ron's new relationship as they were often snogging and embracing in public. She seemed scandalized that Hermione Granger was going to Horace Slughorn's Christmas party with Cormac McLaggen and was disappointed by the fact that she was not invited to the party herself by anyone.

[edit] The Deathly Hallows

Parvati and Padma returned to Hogwarts for their seventh and final year despite the school being infiltrated and controlled by Lord Voldemort's followers, the Death Eaters. They among many others joined the second formation of Dumbledore's Army and helped in causing chaos for Amycus and Alecto Carrow. She fought in the Battle of Hogwarts.

[edit] Battle of Hogwarts

Parvati helped fight in the Battle of Hogwarts. She helped fellow seventh year Gryffindor Dean Thomas by aiming a Full Body-Bind Curse at Antonin Dolohov who was planning on probably cursing Dean. Her life after the Battle of Hogwarts is unknown, but it is known that she lived.
