Padma Patil is a fictional character from the Harry Potter Universe.
Padma Patil is either a half-blood or pure-blood witch born to Mr. and Mrs. Patil and twin of Parvati Patil. She and her twin sister attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry the same year as the famous Harry Potter attended his first year. Padma was sorted into Ravenclaw House, whereas her twin was sorted into Gryffindor. She shared a dormitory with Lisa Turpin, Morag MacDougal, Mandy Brocklehurst, and Su Li. In her fourth year, she was escorted to the Yule Ball by an unenthusiastic Ron Weasley, and in her fifth, she joined Dumbledore's Army, an organization created by fellow fifth years Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. Padma and Parvati's mother and father were planning on pulling them out from school in their sixth year due to the dangers at Hogwarts, but they stayed for the rest of the year and the next, their final year at Hogwarts, and participated in the Battle of Hogwarts.
 The Philosopher's Stone
Padma and twin sister Parvati attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for their first year the same year that the famous Harry Potter—the Boy Who Lived—began his seven years at the prestigious wizard school. Padma was sorted into Ravenclaw House, while Parvati was sorted into Gryffindor. Padma shared a dormitory with Lisa Turpin, Morag MacDougal, Mandy Brocklehurst, and Su Li.
 The Goblet of Fire
Padma, as well as Parvati, returned for her fourth year. In her fourth year, the Triwizard Tournament was held at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, so therefore it was tradition that the Yule Ball was held on Christmas Day. She was accompanied to the dance by Ron Weasley, who along with Harry Potter was going for desperate measures to get a date. However, throughout the dance, Ron did not offer to dance with Padma while he sulked about Hermione, who was attending the Ball with Viktor Krum. In the end, Padma and Parvati, who was escorted by Harry, went to dance with boys from Beauxbatons instead.
 The Order of the Phoenix
In her fifth year at Hogwarts, Padma was appointed prefect for Ravenclaw House. This year, the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher position was taken by Dolores Umbridge, who did not bother to teach her students practical defense. Therefore, many students rebelled against her, besides students from Slytherin House. One way in which they rebelled against her was when Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley formed a group called Dumbledore's Army. Padma and Parvati joined the secret group, which was taught by Harry and instructed real defense against the Dark Arts, and participated in rebelling against Professor Umbridge.
 The Half-Blood Prince
Due to the rise of Lord Voldemort and his followers, the Death Eaters, Hermione Granger told Ron Weasley and Harry Potter that the Patil twins' parents nearly took them away from the school for their safety. However, Parvati and Padma remained put in the Hogwarts castle until the morning of Albus Dumbledore's funeral, which their parents came to bring them back home.
 The Deathly Hallows
Despite her parents' attempts to take her and Parvati out of school the previous year, Padma returned to Hogwarts for her seventh and final year. During her seventh year, the school was under the control of Lord Voldemort through Severus Snape, new headmaster of Hogwarts, and his followers, the Death Eaters. Padma and her sister joined the newly reformed Dumbledore's Army and both fought in the Battle of Hogwarts.
 Battle of Hogwarts
Being a member of the reformed Dumbledore's Army, Padma and Parvati fought in the Battle of Hogwarts. It is known that Padma survived the war at Hogwarts, but her life afterward is not known.
