Order of the Phoenix is a secret society that opposes Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. This society was founded by Albus Dumbledore in 1970 after Voldemort came back and started his campaign to overrun the Ministry of Magic. The Order disbanded, but was again reconvened in 1995 when Harry informed Dumbledore of Voldemort's return. Due to the ministry refusing to believe the return of the Dark Lord, the Order had to protect Harry, and after a battle in which the Order lost another member, Sirius Black, the Ministry finally admitted the truth about Voldemort's return. The Order lost their Leader, Albus Dumbledore after the Battle of the Astronomy Tower in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and remained an underground resistance trying to protect muggles and those not of pure blood. The Order had their final battle against the Dark Lord in the Second Wizarding War when they answered the call of Dumbledore's Army, and won at the cost of Remus Lupin, Tonks and Fred Weasley.
