Horcrux

A Horcrux is an object which is kept hidden from common knowledge in the Wizarding World. Horcruxes are extremely Dark Magic; in order to create a Horcrux, one must first destroy their soul. This can be done through the act of murder.

The first Horcrux was made by Herpo the Foul, who also hatched the first Basilisk. The only other known wizard to use this magic was The Dark Lord, Voldemort.

Voldemort is the wizard who has created the most Horcruxes throughout history; in fact, he is the only wizard to create more than one Horcrux at all. Below is a list of the Horcruxes he made throughout his lifetime (in chronological order):

• Marvolo Gaunt's Ring (Destroyed by Albus Dumbledore)
• Salazar Slytherin's Locket (Destroyed by Ron Weasley)
• Helga Hufflepuff's Cup (Destroyed by Hermione Granger)
• Rowena Ravenclaw's Diadem (Destroyed by Vincent Crabbe)
• Harry Potter (Destroyed by Voldemort)
• Nagini (Destroyed by Neville Longbottom)
