Cedric Diggory is a fictional character from the Harry Potter Universe
[edit] Background
Cedric Diggory was the Quidditch captain for his house Hufflepuff. Cedric was selected as Hogwarts champion along with Harry Potter to compete for the prize from the Triwizard Tournament. Cedric completes all tasks successfully, and after the last task he, along with Harry grab the cup, which teleports them to a graveyard, as unknown to them and others, it has been turned into a Portkey. This graveyard is near the ancestral home of Voldemort's father and near the shack the Gaunt family resided in, and within it, Voldemort's father Tom Riddle Senior is buried. Peter Pettigrew appears with his master and is ordered to "kill the spare". He casts Avada Kedavra and Cedric is killed. He makes a brief reappearance later on in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, during the effect of Priori Incantatem.
