Barty Crouch Jr came from a pure blood family of wizards. He was very talented at school, earning himself twelve OWLs while he attended Hogwarts. He left the school during Voldemorts first reign, and became a Death Eater, later being arrested for torturing Alice and Frank Longbottom. He was sentanced to life in Azkaban by his own father, and they later switched him for his mother, who was dying. Barty then spent many years under the influence of the Imperius Curse that his father cast in order to keep him controlled. Eventually he broke free, and disguised himself as Alastor Moody teaching Defence Against the Dark Arts. While at Hogwarts he manipulated the Triwizard Tournament, and transformed the Triwizard Cup into a Portkey at the wish of Lord Voldemort. After he was found out by the Hogwarts staff, he was given the Dementor's Kiss. Barty was shown to be very talented as he was able to produce high level spells such as the Unforgivable Curses from wands that weren't his. Wands he used were Harry Potter's wand for a short time while he conjured the Dark Mark at a Quidditch match, and Alastor Moody's wand while impersonating him as the Dark Arts tutor.
